On Golden Pond
was a touching and truly genuine looking film. I thoroughly felt that
Kate and Henry Fonda had spent their lives together and that Jane
Fonda was their daughter. They seemed so well together. The story
tells of Norman Thayer's fear of getting old and the communication
between generations. The older couple at their summer home, find that
they are asked by their daughter to take care of her fiance's son
for a month. At first the trio finds it hard to get along since the
son resents being left with them. However, soon Norman and Billy Ray,
the son find a mutual interest in catching the biggest fish in the
lake. This was Fonda's last performance and a truly great one. This
film is worth seeing purely for the chemistry between Kate and Henry
Fonda.
The cast includes:
- Katharine Hepburn .... Ethel Thayer
- Henry Fonda .... Norman
Thayer Jr.
- Jane Fonda .... Chelsea Thayer
- Wayne Doug McKeon .... Billy
Ray
- Dabney Coleman .... Bill Ray
- William Lanteau .... Charlie Martin
- Christopher Rydell ....
