FILMOGRAPHY: Early Films
Morning Glory, 1933
Morning Glory was the film that gave Kate her first Oscar. Playing the gifted actress who hopes to conquer Broadway, Kate is entirely sympathetic and realistic. Kate's own theatrical background was very close to that experienced by Eva Lovelace, the character she portrayed. Adolphe Menjou was excellent as the Broadway producer and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. is a welcome addition as a young playwright.

The cast includes:

  • Katharine Hepburn .... Eva Lovelace/Ada Love
  • Douglas Fairbanks Jr. .... Joseph 'Joe' Sheridan
  • Adolphe Menjou .... Lewis Easton
  • Mary Duncan .... Rita Vernon
  • C. Aubrey Smith .... Robert Harley 'Bob' Hedges
  • Don Alvarado .... Pepi Velez, gigolo
  • Fred Santley .... Will Seymour
  • Richard Carle .... Henry 'Hank' Lawrence
  • Tyler Brooke .... Charles 'Charlie' Van Duesen
  • Geneva Mitchell .... Miss Gwendolyn Hall
  • Helen Ware .... Miss Nellie Navarre
