Citizen Kane, I can't even remember how many times I've seen
Citizen Kane, I could almost recite the dialogue from the screenplay
by Herman J. Mankiewicz and Orson Welles. How could my list be complete
without including it? It broke ground in story telling and the deep
focus cinematography of Gregg Toland. It is a must see for anyone
who loves film and filmmaking. The soundtrack by Bernard Hermann
is also superb. Disputed to be about the newspaper baron William
Randolph Hearst, it is amazing that it was even released since Hearst
did all he could to stifle it. But, probably the most fantastic thing
about Citizen Kane for me, is that Orson Welles was only 25 years
old when he made it; he was truly a genius. |
