THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, 1923

The Ten Commandments was DeMille's classic silent version of this great story. Besides being silent, this version was different from his later remake in 1956 because it also told a parallel modern day story. The parting of the Red Sea during the Exodus was the most inspiring moment in cinema history to that date and its even said that the first "parting" was superior to the 1956 version. DeMille donated every cent he made on this and on his later King of Kings to charity. Starring: Theodore Roberts, Charles de Roch and Estelle Taylor.
