FILMOGRAPHY

To Each His Own, 1946

Olivia accepted this part as soon as she read the script. Playing the part of Josephine Norris offered her the opportunity to play a woman from young adult to aging career woman. It certainly was worth it since she won her first Oscar for this part.

This is a true tear jerker and I dare anyone ot watch the last scenes without crying. The story revolves around Josephine, an unwed mother who's fiance dies in WWI. She decides to allow her friends to take care of the child until she can take care of him herself. However, when she is ready to take him they don't want to give him up and nor does her son recognize her has his mother or want to be with her.

Its heartbreaking to see her give up her son in order to secure his happiness.

We then move to London years later, where Olivia is working and very successful. She meets her son again on leave during WWII and she wants him to spend his leave with her. Unfortunately, he has other plans since he wants to marry his girl. What transpires and how Josephine's happiness is achieved is well worth watching.
