Mr. Andrews Ian MacDonald (I) .... Pete Directed by Nicholas Ray, this offbeat 50's western is considered today to be a "cult classic". Joan plays Vienna, a shrewd businesswoman and former saloon hussy who sets up a fancy gambling joint of her own on the border of a small Arizona town just as a railroad is being put in, ensuring a booming business. She hires a former paramour (Hayden) to protect her from the town's dissidents who don't welcome her or her establishment. Vienna and Johnny eventually fall in love. Vienna fights Emma, played by Mercedes McCambridge in a duel to the death and Vienna emerges victorius. I don't really see the value of this film. Its not my type of film. However, since it has such a following, I decided to focus on it. Please click on the Internet Movie Database button to the left to read more about it.
