Joan plays Monica Rivers, the owner and ringmistress of a traveling English circus. At sixty years old she still had glamour and a great figure. The story is about a series of mysterious murders that begin to occur in the circus. During this time her 16 year old daughter, Angela played by Judy Geeson is expelled from school and comes back to the circus and starts working as the assistant to the knife thrower. It turns out that she is the one who has done the murders and she has gone insane. She even tries to kill her mother. In the end she dies in the rain after she is struck down by a short-circuit outside the tent.
The best thing about this film, in my opinion is Joan's presence. She rises above the highly melodramatic story material.
