Colman
finally won an Oscar as best leading actor for his performance
in this film. A well deserved tribute that was long overdue.
He played Anthony John, an actor of great skill
and talent. John absorbs himself so much in his work that he
almost becomes the characters he plays. When completing a successful
run of a light comedy, he is approached to do Shakespaere's
Othello. He takes the part and it is a smash. However, unfortunately,
it leads John into a new identity which creates a conflict
that overwhelms him and with each passing day his mind gets
filled more and more with murderous jealousy. He is so jealous
of his former wife's possible affairs that it leads him to
tragedy. |
