Girl
Crazy, 1943 Berkeley directed only one
dance number in this film, "I Got Rhythm" which includes
girls in Western outfits, with fringe skirts and people
cracking whips, firing guns and cannons going off.Berkeley
was originally hired to direct the entire film but he and
the producer, Arthur Freed were in disagreement about the
character of the film.Freed wanted simply staged
numbers where he could focus on the musical arrangements
of the Gershwin songs and Judy Garland's singing.Berkeley
was fired after completing "I Got Rhythm".
